A pop up wood yard in the centre of Brussels? Yes! On October 10 2020 we will launch our new space to discover – and touch – our local wood. The Sonian Wood POP UP is part of the Circularium, a 10.000 m2 site in the busy Abattoir neighborhood of Molenbeek entirely dedicated to circular economy. The POP UP will be stocked with our signature beech and oak xxl slabs and boards of different shapes and sizes. Also on display: a limited edition of handsome tables and benches we made with Black Cherry wood.
On display
Over the past year we have worked hard to build up an inventory of locally sourced wood. We have collaborated with public and private forest owners, lumberjacks and sawmills to produce a relatively small but neat collection of slabs, boards and products. We are excited to present them the world!
The wood on display will be also featured in our online store.
Opening
The opening celebration is on October 10 at 15:30 with a programme of groovy music, a woodworking workshop with Brussels-based designer Aria Ann and of course a tour of our local wood. The opening is on invitation only but we will soon post our regular opening times on our website.
