What happens to the trees from the Duden Park?

The Duden Park is a vestige of the Sonian Forest and hosts many beech trees older than two hundred years. Because of the extreme temperatures of the two previous summers, many of the older trees are perishing and thus threatening the safety in the park.
The Sonian Wood Coop. met with the experts from Brussels Environment to explore how some of those precious trees could be used in Brussels.

Le parc Duden est un vestige de la forêt de Soignes et abrite beaucoup de hêtres âgés de plus de deux cents ans. En raison des températures extrêmes des deux étés précédents, de nombreux arbres plus âgés périssent et menacent ainsi la sécurité dans le parc.
La Sonian Wood Coop. a rencontré les experts de Bruxelles Environnement pour explorer comment certains de ces arbres précieux pourraient être utilisés à Bruxelles.

Het Dudenpark is een restant van het Zoniënwoud en herbergt veel beuken van meer dan tweehonderd jaar oud. Door de extreme temperaturen van de twee voorgaande zomers vergaan veel van de oudere bomen en bedreigen daarmee de veiligheid in het park.
De Sonian Wood Coop. had een ontmoeting met de experts van Leefmilieu Brussel om te onderzoeken hoe het hout van deze kostbare bomen in Brussel ingezet kan worden.
